About Tanis
I was born and raised in Cranbrook BC, I have always loved it here, love the people, the mountains and of course my family is here! I have spent many years working at small businesses in Downtown Cranbrook, even after spending a year working as an LPN at the Cranbrook hospital, and then having my first daughter, Avery, I found I was craving to be back in a smaller business.
When I started to think about going back to work after Avery turned a year old, I knew that I needed to do something challenging, and something with flexibility, so I could still spend most of my time at home and of course something fun!
I have always been a very active person, and as a mom I was no different, Avery and I don't like to sit still! We were always on the go, and I found I needed products to help us be on the go! During Avery's first year, she was given so many beautiful gifts, and it wasn't long before I started researching these products, and others, checking out other shops, and then throwing the idea out to my husband about opening a shop! It only made sense really!
It was about this time that and old friend of mine, Bridie decided she was moving back to Cranbrook, not long after she moved here, we started talking about opening a store, bringing to the business, some of her own visions and ideas, we make a perfect team! Bumble Tree was born, and it is exactly what we hoped for! A small downtown shop, where we can get to know people, share experiences, have fun and hopefully help people find the perfect products for the little ones in their lives!
About Bridie
Bridie spent her earliest years on the Sunshine Coast where she was encouraged to play outside as much as possible! Backyards became venues for talent shows, magic shows, and other kinds of dramatic pretend play. She and her friends played in the forests, climbing trees and building rafts to coast over little ponds. They bombed around on bikes, down to the beach where they spent days on end exploring tidal pools and fishing with homemade rods.
With Bumble Tree, Bridie hopes to give families access to practical products that make life a little simpler as well as toys and games and music and art. Things that inspire creativity, pretend play and active outdoor play as well! As mothers, both Bridie and Tanis have had an opportunity to use most of the products they sell--many of them designed by other mothers--in real life situations and are pretty jazzed about being able to be able to bring such cool kids stuff to our little corner of the Kootenays!
